Community Mural Project
Help paint the Dike West basketball court! Join us for a day of color and community at Dike West!
In celebration of National Parks & Recreation Month, we’re transforming one of the basketball courts into a colorful community art piece, and we need your help to bring it to life.
On Thursday, July 17, painters ages 8 and up are invited to stop by the Dike West basketball court anytime between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to join the painting fun.
This will be a paint-by-number style mural, so no artistic experience is needed, just follow the colors and help fill in the design. All supplies, paint, and a mural template will be provided. Just bring your paint clothes, a positive attitude, and be ready to make your mark.
We’ll be celebrating the finished court with a Movie on the Court on Wednesday, July 23 at 6:00 pm, featuring Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Tickets for supplies
You do not need to purchase a ticket for art supplies if you plan on attending and bringing your own supplies. These tickets will be available for purchase for those who need supplies during the event. This ensures we will have enough art supplies purchased for the event.
Paint the Prairie
Join the Fargo Park District and United Prairie Foundation for Paint the Prairie, an evening of art and nature at Urban Plains Park from 5:00-8:0 pm on Tuesday, July 29. This unique event invites participants to explore the beauty of native prairie plants through painting en plein air, the French term meaning “in the open air.” Inspired by the Impressionists, this style of painting encourages artists of all skill levels to capture the natural light, movement, and colors of the prairie landscape in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own painting supplies, or they can register in advance for just $5.00 and we’ll provide the materials. Local plant experts will be on hand to help identify native grasses and wildflowers, while art volunteers will offer painting tips for those seeking guidance. After the event, participants will have the opportunity to display their finished work at the Monarch Butterfly Tagging event in late August.

This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
