The Fargo Park District offers nine cross country ski and snowshoe trails throughout the city, which are groomed as needed depending on the trail and weather conditions. Come out and enjoy some great winter exercise as these trails are available to the public free of charge.

Ski Trail Maps:

  • Red lines are nature park trails, which are a single set of classic tracks combined with at least four feet of flat-packed surface for snowshoeing, etc.
  • Yellow lines are flat-packed trails for snowshoeing, skating, etc.

Cross country ski rentals are available at the Edgewood Chalet for the Edgewood Golf Course ski trails.

Cross Country Ski Trail Information

1/23/26

Trails turned out great and the forecasted sun and light winds will provide a great week of skiing ahead! We are now less than a month away from our Twilight Trails event at Edgewood on February 12th from 6-8pm. Bring your friends and family out for a night of skiing or snowshoeing along a candle lit trail and enjoy some time by the fire outside the chalet! Ski and snowshoe rentals will be available and will give the opportunity for you to introduce someone new to the life long sport of Nordic Skiing.

Edgewood - Trails have been renovated and are in good to excellent condition. Double track was set and turned out great. With the cold weather, the trail should firm up and provide some fast skiing! Watch for the occasional thin spot, but they are few and far between. The skate deck is in good condition. Next week we will be harvesting snow and filling in the bare areas along the skate deck before regrooming.

Prairiewood - The trail was again skipped for grooming as snow conditions are poor along most of the trail. At this point, Skiing at another location would be advised.

1/22/26

The temps are cold, but the trails are HOT! The dusting we received yesterday was enough to elevate trail conditions across the board. Bundle up and get out on the trails!

Lindenwood/RRT - Trails have been groomed, and track has been set in good condition. There are a couple icy spots on the skate deck and an area with some small tree debris from pruning operations happening along the trail.

Lions/Iwen - Trail was groomed and track was set in good condition. Same shorter loop, excluding the Iwen lot connection. The western part of the trail along the dike is still thin.

Orchard Glen - Trail was groomed and track was set in good condition. Expect a few thin spots along the track to start but for the most part, it turned out well.

Forest River - Trail was groomed and track was set in good to excellent condition. There are some thinner spots on the track to start, but the trail really came out great, especially in the trees. These are the best conditions we have seen this season.

Heritage Hills Park trails will now be groomed for hiking, and ski tracks will not be set at this location for the upcoming season. This change allows visitors to freely explore the park on foot while still enjoying a groomed path, without the need to avoid ski tracks.

Due to winter tree pruning activities at Island Park that will create safety concerns and prevent us from maintaining a groomed trail throughout the season, the Island Park Ski Trail will be closed for the 2025–2026 winter.
