Status: Current & Ongoing

Location: Yunker Farm Park

Estimated Completion: Ongoing

Project Overview

  • Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Plan | Current: Our goal is to maintain portions of the existing canopy while working to mitigate the effects of Emerald Ash Borer within the shelter belts and to diversify the shelter belts to increase resilience to pest and disease pressure and improve site aesthetics. This involves removal of the monoculture Ash tree belts and replacing with a diverse set of trees. This is a multiyear plan (7-9 years) with defined action stages for project completion.
  • Mini-Golf Area | Current: The former mini-golf area, formerly operated by the Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm has been demolished to make way for future collaboration with the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society. As part of this transition, the existing course, which has been out of service for many years has been removed and the site will be graded and leveled this year in preparation for upcoming development. This work marks the first step in reimagining the space to better serve the community through future enhancements and partnerships.
  • Dog Park | Complete: The new Yunker Farm Dog Park, located along 32nd Avenue North, officially opened in October 2025, providing an updated and enhanced space for community use. With the opening of this new facility, the previous dog park in the south unit has been decommissioned, and all fencing and related structures have been removed as part of the site’s transition.
