Discover the joy of birding with Fargo Parks! Whether you're a beginner eager to learn or a seasoned birder looking to explore new spots, our birding programs are a great way to connect with nature, build community, and enjoy the outdoors. Led by knowledgeable guides, these sessions offer the chance to identify a variety of local and migratory birds while visiting some of the best birding locations in the region. Grab your binoculars and join us for a relaxing and rewarding experience in the natural beauty of the Fargo area. This program is open to participants 15 years of age and older.

Birding 101 & 202 (Day 1 - May 4)
This class teaches the philosophy of birding, places to bird in the Fargo-Moorhead area, tools for bird watching, bird anatomy, field marks, bird songs and more.

Birding 303 & 404 (Day 2 - May 5)
This class is designed to help a birder recognize the common species of the area and particularly those unique birds that migrate through the Fargo-Moorhead Red River corridor. The class works on both visual and auditory identification.

Field Days
After two days of classroom learning, participants will put their skills to the test during six early morning field trips to top birding spots around Fargo. These guided outings begin at 7:00 am on May 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24.
