Every city needs a gathering space and the Block 9 civic plaza is designed to be just that. The Block 9 Plaza is a public-private partnership between the Block 9 Partners, made up of the Kilbourne Group, R.D. Offutt Company, and the City of Fargo. The Plaza, funded by the Block 9 Partners and operated by the Fargo Park District, is intended to provide a dynamic community-centered destination space in Downtown Fargo. When it opens, the plaza will be heavily programmed by Fargo Park District and will include a performance pavilion for outdoor productions and speakers, interactive water features for kids (and, adults, of course), a lawn area for yoga and movies, and will feature a groomed ice skating rink, firepits and warming huts in the winter.

The Fargo Park District is proud to be the managing partner of this exciting new space. Pending construction, the Block 9 Plaza is slated to open the end of November 2020 with the Holiday Lights parade, a Native American blessing and a new tree lighting tradition. As the projected completion of construction at the Block 9 Plaza approaches and the Fargo Park District begins the management and operation of the space, we are excited to share the plans to announce the official name, reveal the logo, launch our social media accounts and introduce the new Block 9 Plaza Manager, Ana Rusness-Petersen, to the community.
