The Fargo Park District is inviting adults ages 55 and older in North Fargo to share their ideas, experiences, and input as part of a new community engagement effort focused on recreation opportunities for older adults.

Early findings from the Park System Master Plan and feedback from Broadway Station participants have highlighted a strong community interest in more recreation options in North Fargo. In response, the Park District is launching several opportunities for older adults to share their voices and help guide future programs and services.

“Through Valley Senior Services, the Fargo Park District already provides meals, transportation, and access to resources for older adults in North Fargo. Now we want to build on that strong foundation by expanding recreation opportunities that encourage connection, health, and fun.” Susan Faus, Executive Director at the Fargo Park District adds, “The best way to do that is to ask those who live here what matters most to them. The feedback we gather will help all our departments work together to create programs that truly fit the needs and interests of older adults in North Fargo.”

The Fargo Park District is partnering with Reach Partners, Inc. to facilitate these sessions and guide the community engagement process. Reach Partners is a Fargo-based project management and facilitation firm with experience leading meaningful community conversations and shaping strategic direction through inclusive input.

“We are excited to help create space for older adults in North Fargo to share their experiences, ideas, and vision for recreation in their community,” said Rachel Asleson, co-owner of Reach Partners, Inc. “Hearing directly from residents ensures that future programs and services are not only responsive but also truly reflective of what matters most to them.”

This engagement process is designed to listen, learn, and plan for the future.

  • Listen: The Fargo Park District wants to hear directly from older adults about the activities, programs, and services that matter most.
  • Shape the Future: Community input will guide future programming, meal sites, and recreational opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: The effort supports the Park District’s broader goal of ensuring services are sustainable, accessible, and responsive to evolving community needs.
