The Fargo Park District Board of Commissioners held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the Alex Stern Community Room at the Fargo Parks Sports Center. The meeting was held in person and streamed virtually. The board approved the agenda and consent agenda as presented. 

Public Commentary 

No public comments were provided during the meeting.

Director’s Report 

The board then received updates from Executive Director Susan Faus, who shared information related to summer pool attendance. Pools throughout the Fargo Park District had the third highest attendance on record in 2026, with Island Park Pool setting a new record of 66,178 attendees. Susan also highlighted the upcoming fall picnic on Thursday, September 10 for adults 60+ happening at Rheault Farm. The picnic will have a meal, light stretching/Pilates classes, and bingo.

Southwest Regional Pond

The board approved the amendment to the existing MOU to include the far south pond area (south of 64th Avenue) in the Southwest Regional Pond. This project has been an ongoing collaboration with the City of Fargo. 

2027 Preliminary Budget Review

The board approved the 2027 preliminary budget as presented. Staff from the finance department presented numbers from revenue sources, mill levies, charges for services, investment income, sponsorships and donations, and district-wide expenses. The proposed budget lowers the district's mill levy while continuing to support parks, programs, and facilities throughout the community.

Discussion of E-bikes and E-scooters

Susan Faus presented on the increased use of e-bikes and e-scooters within the Fargo Park District's parks and trails.

Governance Committee Update 

The board received an update from the Governance Committee related to the Park Board and Committee meeting schedules for 2027, the review and discussion of Governance Policies (committments, duties & responsibilites, officer roles, and commissioner code of ethics), and discussion of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Planning Committee Update 

The board also received updates from the Planning Committee, including bids for the snow removal at the Fargo Parks Sports Center, the consideration for amendment of the Southwest Regional Pond adding the far South Pond to the agreement, introduction to the recent market compensation review and recommended adjustments, and the presentation of the 2027 preliminary budget.

The meeting concluded with no further business.
