On Friday, June 3, the Fargo Park District is teaming up with area aquatics facilities to celebrate Water Safety Day with a free community event at Fargo Park District outdoor pools from 9:00–10:30 am. Water Safety Day is a community initiative to increase water safety awareness and to teach critical water safety skills to kids and their parents as we enter summer.

The five participating Fargo Park District pools are:

  • Davies Recreational Pool, located at 7150 25th Street S
  • Island Park Pool, located at 616 1st Avenue S
  • Madison Pool & Splash Pad, located at 1040 29th Street N
  • Roger G. Gress Northside Recreation Pool, located at 824 19th Avenue N
  • Southwest Recreation Pool, located at 1840 15th Avenue S

Many area pools are participating in this community-wide initiative in addition to the participating Fargo Park District pools, including Family Wellness Pool, Moorhead Municipal Pool, Concordia College Pool, Hulbert Aquatic Center and the Fercho YMCA Pool.

“For many kids in our community, spending time at the pools is a favorite thing to do during the summer,” shares Dave Klundt, Events and Aquatics Manager at the Fargo Park District. “This free, community-wide event will give kids the tools to stay safe at the pools while they have fun too.”

The Water Safety Day events at each location will include activities designed to teach kids to stay safe while having fun in the water, such as the “Throw, Don’t Go” strategy, back floating skills, safe usage of life jackets, swim tests, general water safety skills, information for parents or daycares and more! Admission to the event is free. Following the event, pools open for the day at 1:00 pm as scheduled with regular admission rates.
