The Fargo Park District Board of Commissioners held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in the Alex Stern Community Room at the Fargo Parks Sports Center. The board approved the agenda and consent agenda as presented.

Director’s Report
Executive Director Susan Faus shared seasonal updates as the Park District transitions into spring operations. Driving ranges at Edgewood and Osgood opened April 15, with full courses anticipated to open the following week, weather permitting. Staff are also preparing to open park restrooms as overnight temperatures stabilize, and tennis and pickleball courts are now open for use.
An update was also provided on seasonal hiring, noting strong applicant pools and a high number of returning staff, positioning the District well for the upcoming season.
2026 Playground Replacement Projects & Engagement
The board approved the 2026 Playground Replacement Projects at Anderson/Tharaldson Complex, Pointe West, and Milwaukee Trail South Adventure Course.
Staff shared that five bids were received for each project, with all meeting qualifications for Anderson/Tharaldson and Pointe West, and one qualifying bid for Milwaukee Trail South. Community engagement played a key role in final selections, with residents helping determine preferred playground designs and color schemes.
A total of 681 responses were collected, with results weighted to prioritize neighborhood and Fargo residents. Feedback emphasized a desire for inclusive, visually engaging, and multi-generational play experiences. Final selections reflect both bid qualifications and community input.
Governance Committee Updates
The board received a Governance Committee update that included a review of governance policies related to staff accountability and the authority of the Executive Director. The board noted that current policies are functioning as intended, with no recommended changes.
Additional discussion included emergency succession planning, potential future inclusion of IT-related policies, and onboarding preparation for incoming board members following the upcoming June election.
Planning Committee Updates
The board received a Planning Committee update that included discussion of several previously approved project bids, as well as updates on ongoing initiatives.
Topics included continued coordination on the Orchard Glen roadway connection, updates to the Fargo Parks Sports Center lease agreement with Sanford, and a preliminary year-end financial overview indicating stable performance across the District. Staff also noted that the annual audit process is underway, with final results forthcoming.
