We’re sad to share the Broadway Square tree has to be taken down for the remainder of the season. During the windstorm on December 18, the tree sustained significant damage, and by the following afternoon the top third of the tree had tipped over. Our operations team acted quickly to secure the damaged portion and stabilize the area, but further assessment showed the tree could not safely remain in place.

Out of an abundance of caution and with public safety as our top priority, the decision was made to remove the tree. This was not an easy choice as the tree is a meaningful part of the winter experience at Broadway Square, and we know many community members will miss seeing it for the remainder of the season. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we take the necessary steps to keep the space safe and welcoming.

The good news is that Broadway Square remains open and active. The rink and skate shack will be operating normally and we hope to see you there! We encourage the community to continue to gather, skate, and enjoy downtown throughout the winter months.
