The Fargo Park District is proud to announce the appointment of Craig Bjur as Executive Director of the Fargo Park District Foundation. Bjur is expected to assume the role of Executive Director on November 7, 2022.

Bjur's appointment marks the first full-time Executive Director of the Fargo Park District Foundation. Previously, the role has been performed by Brian Arett who shared responsibilities between the Fargo Park District Foundation and Valley Senior Services as Director of both entities. Arett previously announced his plans to retire at the end of this year after 40+ years in leadership with Fargo Parks. He served as Valley Senior Services Director since 1989. In 2018 when the Foundation was formed, Arett stepped in to lead the young organization in a combined role. As Executive Director, Bjur will continue the Foundation’s work to develop, sustain and increase the resources of the Fargo Park District Foundation by identifying and cultivating major gifts.

Bjur currently serves the Fargo Park District Foundation as a Project Manager. As Project Manager, he manages fundraising efforts for major projects including the Fargo Parks Sports Complex and Island Park Pool. Bjur began his career at the Park District in 2006 as a Recreation Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management and Business Administration from North Dakota State University. Bjur also serves as a board member for the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Leadership Committee and is a member of the National and North Dakota Recreation and Parks Associations.

The Fargo Park District Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and entity of the Fargo Park District. The Foundation's mission is to “enhance the quality of life in the metro area through the development of modernized facilities, new programs and by offering great opportunities for all in the community”. Major projects currently include the Fargo Sports Complex, Island Park Pool and the Matching Grant Program.
