Local Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo residents know their parks and recreation facilities provide places to get active, explore nature or connect with fellow community members. But what they may not know is that their parks and recreation also contribute to improved health outcomes, higher property values and environmental sustainability.
Parks and recreation have the power to strengthen communities, transform lives and protect the future. That’s why this year, the Fargo Park District, Moorhead Parks and Recreation and West Fargo Park District are joining cities across the country in celebrating the power of parks and recreation.
To celebrate Park and Recreation Month the Fargo Park District will host a hashtag photo contest. Then post the image to Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using #FargoFun to be entered into the contest. See all the entries and vote for your photo in the contest gallery on the Fargo Park District Facebook Page. The photo with the most votes on July 31, 2017 will win a year’s supply of Cass-Clay Ice Cream.
Moorhead Parks & Recreation has created an activity passport for community members to bring along with them to different events and collect stamps! Passport holders must receive at least six stamps to win a prize, and one lucky passport holder will receive a $100 Scheels gift card! Passports are available at the Moorhead Parks & Recreation office, the Hjemkomst Center, the Center Mall, the Hjemkomst Landing, the Moorhead Municipal Pool and at any Moorhead Parks & Recreation special event.
The contest runs July 1-28, and all completed passports must be submitted to either the Moorhead Parks & Recreation office (324 24th St S) or the Hjemkomst Center (202 1st Ave N) by 4 pm, July 28. For more information, visit the Special Events page at MoorheadParks.com.
