The Robert D. Johnson Rec Center was formerly the Emerson Smith Elementary School built in 1930. The Fargo Park District purchased the building in 1996 and currently houses the Department of Cultural Activities and the Forestry Department in this building. Offices for local non-profits and the Activity Center rent space in the facility. Public rentals of the classrooms, gymnasium and board room are welcome.
An elementary size gymnasium: Located on the Main Floor of the building in the North West Corner, 34 X 62 ft. with a proscenium stage and wood floors throughout. Used for large creative movement classes, and dance classes.
Classroom A: located on the Second Floor of the building in the South West Corridor, 20x30, with a wood floor. Used for dance classes, meetings and art classes.
Classroom B: located on the Second Floor of the building in the South West Corridor, 20x30, with a wood floor. Used primarily for art classes, and some meetings.
